![]() The keel has a stainless steel strap the full length of the keel for abrasion protection. The bottom is reinforced with two layers of carbon fiber and a layer of fiberglass. For this wishing to operate it as an open runabout, a small windshield is installed for splash protection" Four stainless steel pins anchor the top to the deck and feature Lexan sliding windows and a fixed windshield. With the top off, it can be stored on the trailer in any garage of 20 ft length and 8ft width. My modification uses a unique removable cabin top that weighs only 65 pounds as it is constructed of carbon fiber and foam to allow it to be removed or installed by two average-size adults. There is room for two sleeping bags if one would like to spend a night on the beach. The hull is designed to withstand running up on a beach for a night's camping if desired. "This boat is a slight modification of Sam Devlins Design "Noddy", a 16-foot fishing boat designed for the waters of Puget Sound. The synthetic teak flooring on the deck looks in very good condition as well.Ĭustom Made! Powered By A Suzuki Four-Stroke 40 HP engine with Very Low Hours! Garmin GPS/Fishfinder.Ĭustom Made Boat with a removable hard top! Selling to finance another Chris Craft restoration. This is a custom-made boat that the owner has put a lot of time and effort into making, with lots of passion for this wood boat. Turns heads everywhere it goes and gets lots of waves and smiles. A perfect boat for small/medium Adirondack lakes and ponds. Comes with custom canvas cover, fenders, dock lines, extra parts. Comes with a vintage TeeNee trailer, clean reg and title and trailer and lights work, but trailer has not been restored. The boat is registered and has a clean title. It is round 13.5 feet long, has a 6 foot beam and weighs (boat only) about 300 lbs. The boat is constructed of solid Mahogany in the framing and mahogany faced plywood on the topsides. The boat weighs around 500 pounds including the motor and is capable of around 30 mph on Lake Champlain with the current motor, a 25hp Yamaha 4 stroke. I have photos of the entire restoration done by myself. The steering wheel, windshield, and all the chrome fittings are original except for the current step plates ( I have the originals). Special custom silver leaf decals were added. I made a custom floor for the boat and added the correct Chris Craft pyramid vinyl. New windshield moulding, decals, bow pole and pendants were added from Classic Boat Connection. The boats interior was repainted with white deck paint. The seat upholstery was custom replaced and all the rub rail trim was straightened and polished. The hull has 7 coats of fire red petit paint, the (laid fiberglass) bottom 3 coats of ablative. Over a period of two years, I completely stripped the boat down to bare wood, repaired, resealed, painted, stained and varnished it. There was some wood rot on the transom and splash planes. The splash planes were badly damaged as was all the rub rail. The outboard motor cowl was damaged and the midsection was broken in half. The boat had been painted with several layers of house paint, (yes, house paint!) and the seat upholstery tops had been varnished over. ![]() I purchased it three years ago after it had been crashed into a dock and the previous owner wanted nothing more to do with it. I believe this rare boat was originally built on Lake George in 1957 and I am the third owner. In 2010 “Dad’s Project” won “Best in Class” for Outboards at the Lake Champlain ACBS show. I contacted Brian Lawson, Classic Boat Works, who finished building the boat which was launched in the Hudson River near Albany in 2007, 52 years after the project was started. He installed the transom and spray rails and then because our home was destroyed by a tornado the boat sat in the garage of his new home until the fall of 1962 when I became the owner. My Dad bought the unfinished hull in 1956. More details about Yellowjackets and this boat can be found in the Summer 2007 ACBS Rudder Volume 17 Number 1 edition. The history of the Yellowjackets, designed by Richard Cole, consists of 5 layers of cold molded mahogany plywood. General Package Description: Dad’s Project – A 16’ Yellowjacket Runabout.
